Customer objectives
The clients wanted to modernize and open up a cramped and poorly lit kitchen, while also improving the functionality and sustainability of the space:
- Open up the kitchen to improve circulation and brightness
- Controlling the budget without compromising on quality
- Use durable and high-quality materials
- Complete the work within a short timeframe with minimal disruption.
Technical constraints and challenges
The project presented several major constraints:
- The wall to be demolished was load-bearing , requiring a structural analysis.
- A confined space with little tolerance for error
- A complete upgrade of the electrical installation
- Laying natural stone requires millimeter precision
This was a project where anticipation, planning and coordination were essential.

Structural intervention
The demolition of the load-bearing wall was made possible by the installation of a load-bearing beam sized to take over the existing forces and transfer the loads to the remaining supports.

Kitchen renovation
The kitchen was modernized by retaining the existing cabinets, replacing only the fronts and rethinking the layout to improve circulation and brightness.

Natural stone laying
The Taj Mahal quartzite worktop and backsplash required precise measurements and millimeter-precise installation, with rigorous management of risks associated with natural materials.
Electricity, lighting and finishes
The electrical installations have been secured and adapted to the new layout, with redesigned lighting and understated finishes to unify the entire space.
Project budget
The budget falls within an average five-figure range (CHF), including structural studies, technical materials, coordination and risk coverage.
Results and lessons learned
The project made it possible to transform a constrained space into a brighter, more functional and sustainable kitchen, without compromising on safety or quality of execution.
