Enhancing everyday spaces through meticulous renovation and rigorous site management
Not all high-end renovation projects involve completely transforming a house.
Sometimes it is more about bringing the same level of finish, functionality and consistency to the last spaces that were not yet fully completed.
For this high-end residential renovation project in Hermance, the clients had recently acquired a beautiful property whose location, architectural character, and overall finishes they already appreciated. However, some secondary rooms in the house did not yet reflect the same level of refinement, functionality, and integration as the rest of the home.
The objective was therefore not to change the identity of the house, but rather to complement it in a coherent and elegant way through custom storage, integrated joinery, better thought-out lighting and high-end finishes allowing to unify the whole property.
The project focused on three main areas:
- A completely redesigned laundry room
- A custom-designed dressing room with integrated makeup area
- A custom-designed office for busy professionals
These different spaces have been reworked to improve daily comfort, maximize storage and use of space, optimize circulation and create a more coherent architectural continuity with the rest of the house.
The architectural concept and layout plans had been developed by an external architect commissioned by the clients, after which Collet Homes intervened as the general contractor responsible for site management, coordination of trades, monitoring of execution and overall management of the construction phase.
Rethinking the laundry room

Although functional in its original configuration, the laundry room lacked fluidity, integrated storage, and aesthetic consistency with the rest of the property.
The renovation has transformed this space into a much more refined and functional service room, thanks in particular to:
- Better equipment placement
- The installation of a new sink
- Adding a more generous work surface
- An improvement to the integrated lighting
- Custom-made joinery and storage solutions
- More consistent and high-end finishes
To achieve this new configuration, existing plumbing networks had to be adapted and partially relocated, while some electrical elements were also modified to allow for a new placement of appliances, better lighting, and more advanced overall functionality.
Even though this type of renovation seems relatively simple once completed, it actually requires significant coordination between the different trades: plumbing, electricity, plastering, custom carpentry, manufacturing and finishing.
A fully customized dressing room and makeup area
The project also included the creation of a custom-made dressing room with an integrated makeup area, designed specifically around the lifestyle, daily habits and storage needs of the clients.
The goal was not simply to add more cabinets, but rather to create an elegant, calming and pleasant environment for everyday use while maximizing organization and functionality.
The positioning of lighting, electrical supplies, plastering adjustments, tolerances of custom joinery, and the integration of finishes all played an essential role in the final quality of the project.
The result is a space that combines high-end aesthetics with everyday functionality.
A custom-designed office adapted to modern professional life

As part of the project, the clients also wanted to create a home office that was both highly functional and perfectly integrated with the rest of the property.
Designed for professionals working partly from home, this space aimed to maximize organization, improve visual comfort, and create a more efficient and pleasant daily work environment.
Custom joinery, integrated lighting and optimized volumes have transformed this space into a refined office consistent with the architectural language of the rest of the house.
With the evolution of working methods, bespoke home offices are now becoming an increasingly important component of high-end residential renovation projects in Geneva.
Site management, coordination and monitoring of execution
This project involved several interconnected spaces, custom joinery, integrated lighting, technical modifications, plumbing adjustments, and precise coordination between the various stakeholders.
As the general contractor responsible for site management and overseeing the execution of the project, Collet Homes notably provided:
- Site coordination
- Monitoring the different trades
- Managing the work sequences
- Supplier and manufacturing monitoring
- Quality control of installations
- On-site technical problem resolution
- Maintaining consistency between the architectural intention and the reality of its execution
Projects involving custom joinery and high-end finishes require not only good design, but also rigorous execution monitoring so that the final result truly reflects the expected level of quality.
Managing unforeseen events during execution
As in many residential renovation projects involving multiple stakeholders and custom-made elements, some unforeseen issues arose during the execution phase.
A distributor and manufacturing partner with whom the team had historically worked and achieved excellent results underwent organizational changes during the project. Unfortunately, the level of monitoring, communication, accuracy, and consistency in manufacturing was no longer aligned with previous experiences.
This resulted in several adjustments and on-site repairs, including:
- Discrepancies between certain measures taken and the approved plans
- Manufacturing inconsistencies
- Adjustments during installation
- More extensive supplier monitoring
- A reorganization of certain construction sequences
Although this type of situation remains frustrating for all parties involved, it is also part of the realities of complex projects combining custom manufacturing, coordination of multiple stakeholders and technical execution.
The difference often lies not in the absence of unforeseen events, but in how they are managed when they occur.
Collet Homes played an important role in managing these issues through monitoring execution, coordinating the various stakeholders, providing on-site technical solutions, and continuously supervising the construction site.
This included, in particular, monitoring corrections, coordinating necessary adjustments, reorganizing certain work sequences, and maintaining the expected level of finish until the project was finalized.
Final result
Despite the complexities encountered during the execution phase, the final project has made it possible to completely transform the functionality, aesthetics and perceived quality of these spaces.
The laundry room has become more functional, better organized, and more integrated with the rest of the property.
Custom-made dressing rooms now offer a more refined and personalized experience.
The office provides a working environment adapted to modern professional life while remaining consistent with the overall aesthetics of the house.
The project has primarily brought more continuity, refinement and perceived quality to spaces that now seem fully integrated into the entire property.
A renovation is not just about plans
One of the most common misconceptions in home renovation is that once the plans are finished, the complex part of the project is behind us.
In reality, the success of a high-end renovation depends heavily on:
- Construction site management
- From the coordination of companies
- Monitoring of execution
- Sequencing the work
- Supplier monitoring
- On-site technical troubleshooting
- Decision-making during the work
- Quality control during execution
Even an excellent architectural concept requires rigorous supervision so that the built result truly reflects the initial vision of the project.
At Collet Homes, our role goes far beyond simply carrying out the work. We support residential projects through the realities of the construction site while protecting the quality of the final result and the overall client experience throughout the entire process.
